    Create and Manage Vouchers

    Introduction

You can create vouchers, which you can give to your end-users to purchase a subscription plan or watch content on your website/app. When a voucher is applied to purchase a subscription plan or content, users do not have to pay anything from their credit card.  That means a user can use the voucher to access any content for free (i.e no cash value or discount is applicable for vouchers). In other words, the voucher allows the users to purchase subscription plan/content without any commitments or card details.

You can create vouchers that can be used only once or you can create vouchers that can be used multiple times. You can also restrict how many times a user can use the voucher. Vouchers can be created for all content on your website or for specific content in a specific category. You can download the voucher status in MS Excel format. You don’t need to add a payment gateway to create vouchers and you can create as many vouchers as you want.

    How to Enable Voucher

Before creating any voucher, first, you need to enable this feature in the CMS.

    • To enable voucher, navigate to “Monetization” --> “Settings” in the CMS.
    • Under “Monetization Model” select the checkbox “Voucher”.
    • Click on “Update”. The voucher will be enabled for your store. Once the Voucher is enabled, it will be displayed under the Monetization menu.
    • To disable "Voucher", deselect the checkbox and click on "Update". The Voucher for the store will be disabled.

Creating One Time Once Use Voucher(s)

    • To create One Time (PPV) Once Use voucher(s), navigate to “Monetization” -->” Voucher” -->"Voucher" in the CMS.
    • Click on “New Voucher”.
    • In “Voucher Type”, select “Once Use”  (“Once Use” vouchers can be used only once to view any (PPV) content).
    • If you are creating a “Once Use” voucher, then you need the number of vouchers you want to create in the “# of Voucher” field. (Type any number between 1-10000; if you type 10 then 10 vouchers will be created and so on)
    • Select the option "Select this checkbox to restrict this voucher to a single user" if you want to restrict the voucher usage to a specific end-user. The voucher used by an end-user will be associated with his/her account. If the end-user will send this voucher to another end-user after using it, then it will not work.
    • Select the “Valid Until” date from the calendar. (Select the From and To date) Note: You can also enter the date by using your keyboard. The end-users can only use the voucher within the validity period.
    • In the “Applies to Content” field, select whether the voucher is applicable for all content (only digital)or for some specific content.
    • If you select "All Content", then the voucher will be created for all content in your store.
    • If you select “Specific Content”, you have two options. 1. Manually Generated 2. Auto-Generated.
    • You need to type the content name one by one in the text field if you select the option "Manually Generated". Here you can add multiple contents
    • If you select the option "Auto-Generated", then you will get the option to select different content categories with content types. Select the Content Category and Content-Type from the drop-down (You can also select multiple content categories and content types simultaneously). Vouchers will be created for that specific content category and content type. This allows you to add bulk content without the hassle of adding them one by one manually.
    • Click on “Submit”.
    • New voucher(s) will be created. You can give the voucher code to your users to view content on your website.

    Creating One Time Multi-Use Voucher(s)

    • To create One Time (PPV) Multi-Use voucher(s), navigate to “Monetization” -->” Voucher” -->"Voucher" in the CMS
    • Click on “New Voucher”.
    • In “Voucher Type”, select “Multi-Use”, (Multi-Use vouchers can be used multiple times to view (PPV) content.)
    • Select the option "Select this checkbox to restrict this voucher to a single user" if you want to restrict the voucher usage to a specific end-user. The voucher used by an end-user will be associated with his/her account. If the end-user will send this voucher to another end-user after using it, then it will not work.
    • You need to specify “Restrict Usage Per User”. That means for how many times the user can use the voucher. (If you mention 5, then the voucher can be used 5 times to view content on your website. The voucher code will be generated automatically).
    • The multi-use "Voucher Code" will be automatically generated. You can rename the Multi-Use Voucher code. For example, if the Multi-Use Voucher code is generated as 8FGHJ1, then you can rename it to WATCHFREE or FREEMOVIE, and so on.
    • Select the “Valid Until” date from the calendar. (Select the From and To date) Note: You can also enter the date by using your keyboard. The end-users can only use the voucher within the validity period.
    • In the “Applies to Content” field, select whether the voucher is applicable for all content (only digital) or for some specific content.
New voucher(s) will be created. You can give the voucher code to your users to view content on your website/app.

If you will mention number of views to 1, access period to 7 days and watch period to 12 hours, then a user can watch the content 1 time within 15 days’. When asked for confirmation, click on “Yes” to delete the voucher.  If you want to delete multiple vouchers, then select the check box for the vouchers you want to delete and click on “Delete”.

    How to Use Vouchers (Subscription/PPV)

Once you created the vouchers (Subscription/PPV), you can give it to your users for buying subscription plans or to watch videos. The users need to click on "Voucher" as payment option when they click on a subscription plan or on a content to purchase it. Then they need to type the voucher code and click on "Apply" to purchase the subscription plan or content.

    For Purchsing PPV Content;

    For Purchsaing Subscription Plan:

    Coupon vs Voucher

A coupon is a discount code. You can configure it to discount in % or cash value in your currency. The voucher is basically 100% off. It makes the content to be completely free for the user using the voucher. When using coupons, the end-users will see the payment popup to enter coupons to get a discount and make the discounted payment from their credit card. When using vouchers, the end-user won’t see any payment popup. The end-user will enter just the voucher code and redeem it to watch the content. Coupons are the most common. Vouchers are used in some specific cases such as sharing a voucher with your friends/family.
