Setting Up Your Ad Integration with BYOA (VAST/VMAP Tags)

Introduction

By displaying advertisements of other brands in your videos, you can earn revenue. Muvi Flex can help you integrate with any Ad Server that is VAST/VMAP compliant in accordance with IAB guidelines. We have out-of-the-box integration with any third-party Ad Server via BYOA (VAST Tags). You can create multiple Ad Tags (in any other Third-Party Ad Server via VAST Tags) and integrate them into multiple video content. Even multiple ads from different brands can be played in a single video via Ad Podding.

Note: In Muvi Flex, we support VAST-based ads on the following platforms: Website, Android Mobile, iOS Mobile, Android TV, Apple TV, Fire TV, and Roku TV.

Setting Up Your Ad Integration with BYOA (VAST/VMAP Tags)

The Bring Your Own Ad Server (BYOA) feature allows you to integrate any VAST-compliant video ads into the Muvi Flex CMS and then configure those ads to any video content. With BYOA, you can integrate Ad Tags into your video streaming platform from almost any Ad Server (e.g., Google Ad Manager, OpenX, Broadstreet Ad Server, Magnite, etc.)

To integrate the third-party ad server tags via VAST/VMAP Tags, navigate to “Monetization”--> “Advertisements” in the CMS.
Click on the "Ad Tags" tab.
Click on "Add Ad Tag" on the right-hand side.
In "Ad Type", select "Video" for video ads and "Audio" for audio ads.
In "Ad Format", select “VAST“ or "VMAP" from the drop-down menu.
Type the Ad Tag Name.
Paste the Ad Tag URL (that you obtained from any third-party Ad Server) in the corresponding fields.
Click on "Save".
You can preview the Ad by clicking on the "Preview" icon.

Note:

You can add multiple Ad Tags by repeating the above procedure. By creating multiple Ad Tags, you can add different ads to different content in your store.
It also supports Ad Podding and allows for the playing of multiple ads in a single video. First, you have to configure multiple ads in an Ad Server that supports this feature. Then, you need to get the Ad Tag from that Ad Server and integrate it into Muvi One.

Managing Ads for Content

Navigate to “Content Management“-> “Content Library“ in the CMS
Click on the "Edit Icon" below the content.
In the Content Edit page, click on the "Monetization" tab.
Under "Advertisements", under “Add Categories”, select "Ad Tags”.
Select "Ad Format" as "VAST" or "VMAP".
If you have selected VAST, then follow the steps below.
You can choose either *“Pre-roll”, *“Mid-roll”, or *"Post-roll" option, or you can also choose all three 3 options or combinations like Pre-roll + Post-Roll, or Mid-Roll Post-Roll, and so on.
Click on "Add Pre-Roll Ad" to select the Pre-Roll option. The ad will be played from the beginning.
Select the Tag Value from the drop-down and click on "Done".
Click on "Mid-Roll Ad". The ad will be played in the middle. You can select the time or % of the video when the ad will appear in the video.
Select the Tag Value from the drop-down and type the "Break Timing" (e.g., 10 seconds, 30 Seconds, or in % of video, i.e., 10%, 40%, etc.)
Click on "Done".
Click on "Post-Roll Ad". The ad will be played at the end of the video.
Select the Tag Value from the drop-down and click on "Done".
Click on “Save”.
When the end-users play the video, they can view the ads integrated into the video. You can also check by clicking on the "Preview" button on the video content.

Note:

Currently, we are supporting Ads for Pre-roll, Mid-roll, and Post-roll for Vast Tags on the Website, Android Mobile, iOS Mobile, Android TV, Apple TV, Fire TV, and Roku TV.
*If you select "Pre-roll," then the ad will be played before the content starts playing. If you select "Mid-roll," you can select the time after how many seconds or minutes the ad will be played in the content. If you select "Post-roll", the ad will be played at the end of the content.
You can integrate ads in single-part videos (e.g., movies, short videos)
Currently, we do not support ads for live-streaming content and third-party content(YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, etc.) and video content created using HLS Feed URLs.
#You can configure different Ads for each content. That means you can configure an Ad in specific content in Pre-Roll, another ad in Mid-Roll, and a different ad in Post-Roll that will play in the content at the beginning, middle (the time you set for Mid-Roll), and end of the content.

Managing Ad Tags

You can edit or delete the Ad Tags you have added for any Ad Server (i.e., VAST, VMAP ).

To edit an Ad Tag, navigate to "Monetization" -->"Advertisements" in the CMS.
You can use the "Search" or the "Filtering" option to find a specific Ad Tag that you want to "Edit" or "Remove".
Click on the Edit Icon on the right-hand side of a specific Ad tag. Make the necessary changes (e.g., Ad Tag Name, Ad Tag URL ) and click on "Save". The Ad tag will be modified.
To delete a specific Ad Tag, on the right-hand side of a specific Ad tag, click on the Trash Icon.
When asked for confirmation, click on "Proceed" to delete the Ad Tag. Once the tag is removed, the Ad will not be displayed on the video in which the ad was associated.
