How to Add a Nested Video Content (Web Series, TV Series)

    Introduction

    Creating Nested Content Groups

Adding a Show or Parent Content

    Adding a Season

Adding an Episode or Child Content

    View Content on the Front-End

    Introduction

The Nested Video Content feature allows you to organize your video content hierarchically — ideal for web series, TV shows, or episodic content.
This feature lets you create a structured content flow with Parent Content → Seasons → Episodes, making it easier for viewers to navigate and watch your series in order.

In this article, you’ll learn how to add a nested video structure step by step, from creating a content group to viewing it on your website or app.

    Creating Nested Content Groups

Before creating the nested content, you can create the structure of the nested content. You can define how many levels will be in the nested content. For example, you create a two-level group like “Show” and “Episode” or a three-level group like “Show”, “Season”, and “Episode”.

    • To create a group, navigate to “Content Management” -->” Content Settings” in the CMS.
    • Click on the “Content Group” tab.
    • Click on “Add New Content Group”.
    • Type the Content Group Name.
    • Select the Number of Levels from the drop-down.
    • Type the “Level 0” name (e.g., “Show”)
    • Type the “Level 1” name (e.g., “Season”)
    • Type the “level 2” name (e.g., “Episode”)
    • Select the “Display of Level 1”. That is how you want to show it on the front end. Select the structure (i.e., Drop-Down, Separate Page, Heading, Tabs)
    • Click on “Save”. A new group will be created. You can create multiple groups to add different types of multi-part content.
    • You can also “Edit” a specific “Group” or delete a “Group”.

Adding a Show or Parent Content

First, you need to add the “Show”, then the “Season”, and then the “Episode”. Adding the parent content is a 2-step process.

Step 1: Adding Basic Content Information

    • To add the “Show”, navigate to “Content Management” -->” Content Library” in the CMS.
    • Under the “Content Library” tab, click on “Add New” on the extreme right-hand side.
    • Click on the “Edit Icon” at the top to change the parent content name from “Untitled Video” to a name that you want to add for the video.
    • On the right side, select the “Content Type” (e.g., Video).
    • Select the “Group” (e.g., Web Series).
    • Select the “Content Format” (e.g., Default).
    • The “Permalink” will be automatically generated based on the content name.
    • Select the “Categories & Subcategories” from the dropdown menu. (Click here to know how to add and manage “Categories and Subcategories)
    • Click on “Save and Continue”.

Step 2: Adding Media Assets and Additional Details

Once the parent content is created, you can enhance the content by adding a trailer, thumbnail, banner, cast and crew details, and configuring options like monetization, security, and more.

    Adding Preview, Posters & Banners

    • Click on the “Design” tab.
    • Upload a “Preview Media” or Trailer for the content. You can select the video from the Asset Library (if you have already uploaded it), or you can upload it directly from your device.
    • Under “Poster”, upload a thumbnail or poster for the content. You can upload different sizes of posters for Web, Mobile, and TV platforms.
    • Under “Banner”, upload a banner for the content. You can upload different sizes of banners for Web, Mobile, and TV platforms.

    Adding Monetization

    • Click on the “Monetization” tab to add monetization methods like subscription/PPV to the content. If you have not added the monetization methods, you can instantly add one.
    • You can also configure “Advertisements” for the content.

    Adding Security Features

    • Click on the “Security” tab to add security options like Geo-block to the content. You can block your content for a specific city, state, or country.

    Adding People (Cast & Crew)

    • You can instantly add the people’s information and map it to the content.

Adding Addons (Video, Audio, PDF, External Links)
