How to Add a Free Subscription Plan

Introduction

The Free Subscription Plan feature allows you to create a zero-value or free subscription plan for your end-users. This plan will enable users to activate the subscription without cost and access content on your platform. Additionally, you can use this feature to upsell your paid plans by introducing certain restrictions on the free plan, encouraging users to upgrade for a better experience.

Benefits of a Free Subscription Plan

Increase User Base: Attract more users by removing the payment barrier.
Upsell Opportunities: Highlight the benefits of paid plans by adding limitations to the free plan.
1)For example, you can create ad-supported free subscription plans and ad-free paid subscription plans.
2)Create a free plan to stream on 1 screen only.
3)Create a free plan for login to 1 device only.
You can easily manage the benefits and restrictions using the Policy Engine feature.
Enhanced Engagement: Allow users to explore your platform and content, fostering brand loyalty.

Adding a Free Subscription Plan

To add a free subscription plan, navigate to “Monetization” -->” Pricing Plans” in the Dashboard.
Click on the “Subscription Tab”.
Click on “Add Subscription”.
Type the subscription “Name” (e.g., Standard Plan, Free Plan, etc.).
Type a “ Short Description” of the subscription plan.
In “Plan Type”, select “Free”.
Click on “Save”. A free subscription will be created.

Note:

A free subscription plan can be created once.
It is an all-content subscription plan.
The free subscription plan has unlimited validity.
If the free plan is disabled, then you can’t create another free plan

How to Activate the Free Subscription Plan

Once the free subscription is added, the end-users can view it on your website/app.
When the end-users click on the play button to play content, they will see the payment popup.
The end-users need to select the free subscription plan from the options available.
Then, they need to click on “Activate” to activate the free subscription plan.
Once the plan is purchased, the end-users can view all the content on your website/app for free.
The end-users can view the plan details in the “Billing and Purchases” section under their profile.
