Unlock new possibilities for your content management system with the “Document as Content-Type” feature. This powerful functionality allows you to seamlessly incorporate documents alongside your video and audio offerings, expanding the breadth and value of your digital content.
With this feature, you can effortlessly add documents from your content library, or bulk upload them, transforming them into first-class content types. This integration empowers you to monetize your document-based resources, allowing your end-users to purchase and access these materials directly through your platform.

How to Enable Document as Content-Type
First, you need to enable the “Document” option in the CMS to create documents as a content type.
- To enable the document feature, navigate to “Content Management”-->” Content Settings” in the CMS.
- Click on the “Settings” tab.
- Under the "General Settings" and “Content Types”, select “Documents”.
- You can enable “Disable content details page” if you don’t want to show the content details page for the documents.
- Once the feature is enabled, you can view the “Document” option in the "Content Type" drop-down while adding new content in the “Content Library”.
How to Add a Document
Adding a document as content is a two-step process. In the first stpe you can add the basic document information, and in the second step, you can add advanced information.
Step: 1
- To add a document, navigate to “Content Management” -->” Content Library” in the Dashboard.
- In the Content Library, click on “Add New”.
- Click on the "Edit Icon" to add the document name.
- In “Content Type”, select “Document” from the drop-down.
- In “Content Group”, select "Single Part” to create a single document. You can select any content group to create a group of documents, like a web series or an audio album.
- The “Permalink” will be generated automatically.
- Select the “Content Category” for the document. You can select multiple content categories.
- Click on "Add" under the "Add Primary Media" to upload a document (you can upload documents in doc, docx, pdf, xls, xlsx, ppt, and pptx).
- You can upload the document from your computer or from the "Assets Library" if you have already uploaded the document to the "Assets".
- Click on "Save and Continue".
Step 2:
- Click on the "Design" tab to add a poster and a banner for the content.
- Upload the "Poster" for the "Web", "Mobile", and "TV".
- Upload the "Banner" for the "Web", "Mobile", and "TV".
- Click on the "Monetization" tab to select the monetization plans for the document.
- Click on the "Security" tab to select a security option like "Geo-Block" for the document. You can block your document for any specific city, state, or country.
- Click on the "People" tab to select an author of the document.
- Click on the "Add On" tab to add any "Video< "Audio", "Document", or "External Link" to the document.
- Click on the "Advanced" tab to add the document to a document playlist or you can add a related document to the content.
- On the right-hand side, type "Story or Description" about the content.
- Add the "Search Tags" for the content.
- Click on "Save and Publish" to save and publish the content immediately. You can also schedule the content to be published on a future date.
How End-Users View and Download Documents
Once the document is added, the end-users can view it on the front end. If you have added monetization, then you can monetize the content. The end-users can purchase the content to view or download it.
How to View Document Download Analytics
You can view the details of document downloads in the Engagement Analytics section. Here, you can see the documents that have been downloaded, the number of times each document has been downloaded, and the end users who downloaded them.
- Navigate to "Analytics" -->"Engagement" in the Dashboard.
- In "Type", select "Document".
- In "Content", select "All" to view the details of all documents or select specific documents.
- In "Metric", "Download" will be selected automatically.
- In "Breakdown", select "Content" to see the documents that have been downloaded. You can view it in the “Summary Table” below.
- Select "User" to view the end-users who downloaded the documents. You can view it in the “Summary Table” below.
- Select "Device Type" to see in which devices the document has been downloaded (e.g., on Web, Android, iOS, etc.). You can view it in the “Summary Table” below.
- Select "Geography" to see in which countries the documents have been downloaded. You can view it in the “Summary Table” below.
- In "Date Range", select the date from the drop-down to see the downloads of the documents on the specific days (e.g., last 7 days, last 30 days, etc.).
- You can even select a lifetime or custom date range.
- Click on the "Advanced" option to select the "Creator Type" and "Created By".
- You can view the details in the "Graph".
- You can download the report in "CSV" or "XLSX" format for further analysis.
- Select the "Compare to previous period" option to compare the current analytics with the previous period.
- Click on the "Reset" icon to reset the parameters of the analytics.
