Introduction
You can embed video from any third-party platform like YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, and other Online Video Platforms (OVP) like JW Platform, Brightcove, Kaltura, etc. to Muvi. When your subscribers/viewers click on the video (from a third-party platform) on your website/mobile app, it will be played on their (third-party) player. However, the video links you add from the other OVPs (Video files in .m3u8 format) will be played on Muvi's video player.
However, we do not support embedding videos from third-party (YouTube, Dailymotion, Vimeo) in TV Apps (i.e., Apple TV, Fire TV, Roku, Android TV, Samsung TV, LG TV, etc.).
Why Embed Players Not Supported in TV Apps
There are two reasons why the embedded players are not supported in the TV Apps.
- The Remote Control Feature Doesn’t Work on Embedding Player
When content is watched on a TV App, the player functions (Play, Pause, Forward, Backward, etc.) are controlled by the TV Remote. In the case of embed player, these functions cannot be controlled via the TV Remote.
- App Don’t Get Published in App Stores
Android TV does not support embedded video natively. When content is embedded from third-party websites into TV Apps, the app is rejected by the app store. The app stores (Google Play, iTunes App Store) don’t allow embedded content in TV Apps. So, if you have embedded content, your TV Apps will not get published.
