How to Add Video Content

Introduction

You can add video content to Playout, such as Movies, Short Videos, or Documentaries, is a simple two-step process. In the first step, you can add the basic content metadata — including the content title, content type, group, categories, and sub-categories.

In the next step, you can enhance your content by adding a trailer, thumbnail, banner, cast and crew details, and configuring options like monetization, security, and more. This step-by-step guide will help you seamlessly add your single video content within the CMS.

Adding Video Content

Step 1: Adding Basic Content Information

To add video content, navigate to “Content Management” -->” Content Library” in the CMS.
In the Content Library, click on “Add New”.
Click on the “Edit Icon” at the top to change the content name from “Untitled Video” to a name that you want to add for the video.
On the right side, select the “Content Type” (e.g., Video).
Select the “Group” (e.g., Single Part).
The “Permalink” will be automatically generated based on the content name.
Select the “Categories & Subcategories” from the dropdown menu. (Click here to know how to add and manage “Categories and Subcategories)
Under “Add Primary Media”, click on “Add” to upload a video for the content.
Select the “Encoding Profile” from the drop-down menu. If you have not created any encoding profile, you can select “Default Video Profile”. Click here to know how to create an encoding profile.
You can select a video from your computer or select a video from the Asset Library (if you have already uploaded the video to the Asset Library). You can also “Drag and Drop” video files to the dialog box.
If you want to create content using the “HLS URL”, click on the “Feed” option.
You can add an HLS URL to create the content. Mostly, you can add live streams using this option.
Click on “Save and Continue” in the top right corner.
The content information will be saved, and video content will be created.

Step 2: Adding Media Assets and Advanced Features

Once the content is created, you can add “Preview Media”, “Poster”, “Banner”, and “Security” features.
Click on the “Design” tab.
Under “Preview Media”, click on the “+” icon to upload a preview media or trailer.
Under “Poster,” click on the “+” icon to upload a poster for the video content.
Under “Banner”, click on the “+” icon to upload a banner for the video content.
Click on the “Security” tab to add Geo-Block to the content.
You can select the Geo-Block option from the drop-down menu.
Type a “Story/Description” for the content.
Type “Search Tags” for the content.
Click on “Save” to save the added details.
Once the content is added, click on the “Play Button” on the content to preview
