How to Live Stream Using the Feed URL (HLS)

    Introduction

Muvi One allows you to live-stream any existing video feed. Your viewers can view the live streaming of the content via the Website, iOS, Android, and Roku apps. We support the HLS Feed URLs in live streaming. First, you need to add the content to the CMS. While adding the content, you need to type the URL of the existing video feed (HLS). After adding the content, your users can watch the live streaming of the video when they click on the content on your website/app.

    Adding Live Streaming Content

Adding live content in the Dashboard is a two-step process. In the first step, add the basic content details, and in the second step, add advanced information.

Step 1: Adding Basic Content Information

    • To add video content, navigate to “Content Management” -->” Content Library” in the CMS.
    • In the Content Library, click on “Add New”.
    • Click on the “Edit Icon” at the top to change the content name from “Untitled Video” to a name that you want to add for the livestream.
    • On the right side, select the “Content Type” (e.g., Video).
    • Select the “Group” (e.g., Video).
    • Select the “Content Format” (e.g., Default).
    • The “Permalink” will be automatically generated based on the content name.
    • Select the “Categories & Subcategories” from the dropdown menu. (Click here to know how to add and manage “Categories and Subcategories)
    • Under “Add Primary Media”, click on “Add” to add a Feed URL for the content.
    • In the pop-up, click on the "Feed" tab.
    • Select "Mark as Live Stream".
    • Type/paste the Feed URL in the box.
    • Click on "Upload".
    • Click on “Save and Continue” in the top right corner.
    • The content information will be saved, and live content will be created.

Step 2: Adding Media Assets and Additional Details

    Adding Preview, Posters & Banners

    • Click on the “Design” tab.
    • Upload a “Preview Media” or Trailer for the content. You can select the video from the Asset Library (if you have already uploaded it), or you can upload it directly from your device.
    • Under “Poster”, upload a thumbnail or poster for the content. You can upload different sizes of posters for Web, Mobile, and TV platforms.
    • Under “Banner”, upload a banner for the content. You can upload different sizes of banners for Web, Mobile, and TV platforms.

    Adding Monetization

    • Click on the “Monetization” tab to add monetization methods like subscription/PPV to the content. If you have not added the monetization methods, you can instantly add one.
    • You can also configure “Advertisements” for the content.

    Adding Security Features

    • Click on the “Security” tab to add security options like Geo-block to the content. You can block your content for a specific city, state, or country.

    Adding People (Cast & Crew)

    • Click on the “People” tab to add cast and crew-related information to the content.
    • You can instantly add the people’s information and map it to the content.

Adding Addons (Video, Audio, PDF, External Links)

    • Click on the “Add-ons” tab to add or relate any video, audio, PDF, or external link to the content. This will be visible on the front-end in the content details page.

Adding a Playlist and Related Content

    • Click on the “Advanced” tab to add the content to a video playlist.
    • You can also relate or link the content with another video, audio, or document using the “Related Content” feature.

    Adding Description & Search Tags

    • On the right-hand side, type the content “Description”.
    • Add the “Search Tags” or keywords to help your end-users find your content easily on the front-end (e.g., action, movies, etc.)

    Saving & Publishing the Content

    • Click on “Save and Publish” in the top right corner to save the details and publish the content immediately.
    • You can select “Save and Schedule” if you want to publish the content on a future date.
    • You can select “Save as Draft” if you want to make further changes to the content and publish it later.
    • Once the content is added, you can view it in the “Content Library”.
    • Click on the “Preview Button” on the content to preview it in the CMS.

    Playing Live Stream Content

When the end-users play live stream content, they can see a "Live" indicator on the player if the HLS URL of an active or real-time live stream is used to create the content. For example, live streaming of news, soccer game, cricket match, boxing, etc. When the HLS URL of a playlist, a recorded live stream, or normal VOD content is used (which is not active or not in real-time) then the "Live" indicator is not displayed on the player.
