How to Monetize Shorts Via Coins

Introduction

Muvi Coins is a virtual currency system that allows you to monetize your short-form content beyond traditional payment methods. Instead of paying for every purchase using a credit card or digital wallet, viewers can buy virtual coins in advance and use those coins to unlock premium content or subscribe to plans.

This model is especially effective for platforms offering micro dramas, short videos, episodic content, creator-led experiences, and reward-based engagement, where users frequently make small-value purchases.

Note: Coins are an alternative payment method, not a replacement for PPV or Subscription. Every coin-based purchase must be tied to either a one-time PPV purchase or a recurring Subscription.

How to Enable Coins

To enable coins, navigate to “Monetization” à “Settings” in the Dashboard.
Click on the “Monetization Settings" tab.
Under “Pricing”, enable “Coins”.

How to Configure Coin Price

Coin Pricing allows you to define how many Coins are required to purchase premium content or subscriptions. You can set a coin price for individual PPV content or subscription plans, enabling users to unlock content using Coins instead of direct fiat payments.

To configure the coin price, navigate to “Monetization” --> “Pricing Plans” in the Dashboard.
Click on the “Coins” tab.
Under “Coin Price”, you can see the pre-defined prices for the coin in multiple currencies (if you have added multiple currencies, else you can only see the price in the default currency).
Click on the “Edit” icon to edit the coin price.
For example, if the coin price is configured as “1 Coin = $1” you can change it to “1 Coin = $ .5” or “1 Coin = $2” so on. If the coin price is set as “1 Coin = $1” then the end-users have to pay $100 to purchase 100 coins.
Click on “Update” to save the coin price.

Creating Bulk Purchase Packages (Slabs)

You can create bulk coin purchase packages by defining the number of Coins, pricing, and optional bonus Coins to encourage users to purchase larger coin packs.

To create bulk purchase packages or slabs, navigate to “Monetization” --> “Pricing Plans” in the Dashboard.
Click on the “Coins” tab.
Under “Bulk Purchase Packages”, click on “Add Slab”.
In the popup, type the “Package Name” (e.g. Premium, Basic, etc.).
In the “Coins” field, type the number of coins you want to offer in the package (e.g., 100, 500, 1000, etc.).
In the “Price” field, type the price per coin (e.g., $1, $10, etc).
You can see the “Bonus” field will be automatically filled in.
You can also set the price in another currency.
Click on “Save”.
You can repeat the process to add more slabs.

Note: Any difference between the coin value and the selling price is credited to the user as bonus coins. For example, if 500 coins = USD 500 and you set the price to USD 300, the user will receive 500 coins + 200 bonus coins (USD 500 − USD 300).

Creating Pay Per View (PPV) Pricing Using Coins

You can configure Pay Per View (PPV) pricing for Shorts using both Coins and FIAT (cash), allowing viewers to choose their preferred payment method when purchasing content.

To add a PPV price in coins for Shorts, navigate to “Monetization” --> "Pricing Plans” in the Dashboard.
Click on the “Pay Per View” tab
Click on “Add PPV”.
Type the “Plan Name” (e.g., Premium, Basic, etc.).
Type the “Plan Description” (e.g., Basic Plan with One Month Access).
In the “Plan Type”, select “Single” for single shorts. Select “Group (2 Level)” for micro drama series.
In “Price”, under the FIAT/Cash Pricing, type the price for subscribers and non-subscribers in the default currency. You can add more prices in another currency.
Under “Coin Pricing”, type the subscriber cost (in number of coins) and non-subscriber cost (in number of coins).
In “Access Duration”, type the access duration in “Hours”, “Days”, and “Months”.
Click on “Save”.
The PPV pricing will be added. You can repeat the process to add more PPV pricing for the shorts content.

Add PPV Price to Shorts

Once the PPV price is created, you can add the price to any shorts. When end-users try to view the shorts, they will redeem the coins from their coin balance.

To add the PPV price to a single content, navigate to “Content Management” --> "Content Library” in the Dashboard.
Click on the "Edit Icon"below the shorts content.
In the content edit page, click on the “Monetization Tab”.
Under "Pricing Plans", select "PPV" from the drop-down.
On the right-hand side, select the plans. You can select multiple plans for a single piece of content.
Click on “Save & Publish”. The plan will be added.
