How to Check the Content Views in Analytics

Introduction

The Custom View Definition feature gives you greater control over how a View (Metrics)—one of Muvi Analytics’ key engagement KPIs —is calculated for your content.

By default, a view is recorded as soon as playback begins, whether a user clicks the play button or the video starts automatically. With this feature, you can redefine a view based on meaningful engagement, such as:

• Watching at least 10% of the content, or
• Watching at least 30 seconds

Your custom definition is then applied across key use cases like policy enforcement (e.g., limiting views) and revenue sharing (e.g., payouts based on view count), ensuring your metrics align with your business needs.

Enabling Custom View Definition

• To enable the “Custom View Definition” feature, click on the “Player” menu in the Dashboard.
• Click on the “Preferences” tab.
• Under “Playback Preference”, select the option “Custom View Definition”.
• You can select either the “percentage-based view” or “duration-based view”.
• If you select the “Percentage Based View”, then type the “%” percentage of the content the end-users will watch to be counted as a view (e.g., 5%, 10%, etc.).
• If you select “Duration Based View”, then type the duration in “Seconds” of the content the end-users will watch to be counted as a view (e.g., 5 seconds, 10 seconds, etc.).
• Click on “Save”.

How to Check the Content Views in Analytics

• Navigate to “Analytics” -->” Engagement” in the Dashboard.
• In the Engagement Analytics, select the “Type” of content you want to view (e.g., Video, Audio).
• In “Content”, select all or select specific content from the list to check the number of views.
• In the “Metric”, select “Views” to check the views of the content.
• In “Breakdown”, select “Content” to check the number of views of the content.
• In “Date Range”, select the “Date Range” in which you want to check the views.
• You can see the “Total” views of the content.
• In the “Summary Table”, you can check the detailed views of the content.
