Introduction

In Playout, a live feed (HLS) can be added and scheduled in a specific channel at a specific time slot. End-users can view the live stream by watching the channel. The live stream will be played automatically in the pre-scheduled time slot on the channel. You can use both live and recorded feeds (HLS) in Playout.

How to Add Live Stream Content

Before scheduling the live stream in Playout, you need to add the live stream to the “Content Library”.

Step 1: Adding Basic Content Information

• To add a live stream using the HLS Feed URL, navigate to “Content Management” -->” Content Library” in the Dashboard.
• In the Content Library, click on “Add New”.
• Click on the “Edit Icon” at the top to change the content name from “Untitled Video” to a name that you want to add for the video.
• On the right side, select the “Content Type” (e.g., Video).
• Select the “Group” (e.g., Single Part).
• The “Permalink” will be automatically generated based on the content name.
• Select the “Categories & Subcategories” from the dropdown menu. (Click here to know how to add and manage “Categories and Subcategories)
• Under “Add Primary Media”, click on “Add” to upload a video for the content.
• Select the “Encoding Profile” from the drop-down menu. If you have not created any encoding profile, you can select “Default Video Profile”.
• To create a live stream using the “HLS URL”, click on the “Feed” option in the pop-up.
• Type the live HLS URL in the box "Feed URL".
• Select the option "Mark as Livestream".
• Click on "Upload".
• Click on “Save and Continue” in the top right corner.
• The live content information will be saved, and a live stream will be created.

Step 2: Adding Media Assets and Advanced Features

• Once the live stream is created, you can add “Preview Media”, “Poster”, “Banner”, and “Security” features.
• Click on the “Design” tab.
• Under “Preview Media”, click on the “+” icon to upload a preview media or trailer.
• Under “Poster,” click on the “+” icon to upload a poster for the video content.
• Under “Banner”, click on the “+” icon to upload a banner for the video content.
• Click on the “Security” tab to add Geo-Block to the content.
• You can select the Geo-Block option from the drop-down menu.
• Type a “Story/Description” for the content.
• Type “Search Tags” for the content.
• Click on “Save” to save the added details.
• Once the live stream content is added, click on the “Play Button” on the content to preview the live stream. 

How to Schedule Live Stream Content

• To schedule the live stream in the Playout channel, navigate to "Cloud Playout" -->"Scheduler" in the Dashboard.
• In the "Scheduler", select the channel from the drop-down.
• On the right-hand side, click on the "Live" tab.
• On the right-hand side, you can view the live-stream content.
• Drag and drop the live stream content on the “Scheduler”.
• Type the duration of the live stream in HH:MM: SS format (e.g., 01:30:15)
• Click on “Save”.
• The live stream will be scheduled on the channel.
• You can schedule multiple live streams on the channel in different time slots.
