Data Centre Specifications for Muvi On-Premise Deployment

Introduction

Muvi On-Premises allows you to deliver content using your own infrastructure. You can host your video streaming infrastructure locally or within your own data center, making it suitable for environments with low internet availability or secure, closed networks.

This article provides the recommended infrastructure specifications for deploying the MuviOne services in your data center.

Prerequisites for Muvi One On-Premise

Before proceeding with a Muvi On-Premise deployment, ensure that the following prerequisites are met:

1. Deployment Scope
   This document applies to deployments where the entire Muvi One application and source code are deployed on-premises. It does not cover the following use cases:
   • Muvi Offline — Learn more about Muvi Offline Streaming.
   • Muvi One SaaS with on-premises storage and encoding —
     Muvi One can continue to run as a SaaS application while you can use
     on-premises storage and encoding. You can add the encoded feed to the
     Muvi CMS for streaming. This setup is supported out of the box.
2. Private Data Center
   You must have a private data center. Your IT team is responsible for managing and maintaining the data center infrastructure, including the servers.
3. Virtualization or Container Platform
   You must have a virtualization or container platform, such as VMware, OpenStack, or Kubernetes, available in the data center.
4. Operating System
   The servers must run a Linux-based operating system, specifically Ubuntu.
5. Storage
   You must provide storage infrastructure using SAN, NAS, or Object Storage.
