How Zero-Rating Works

The Zero-Rating process works seamlessly in the background and does not require any action from end users.

Step 1: Telecom Partnership Setup

The platform owner partners with a telecom provider such as:

• Vodafone
• Airtel
• MTN

Muvi supports integration with these telecom providers.

Step 2: Platform Configuration

Muvi configures the platform with the required setup, including:

• Domain mapping
• Dedicated CDN URLs
• Platform-specific traffic identifiers

These configurations help telecom operators recognize traffic originating from the platform.

Step 3: Traffic Validation

When a user accesses the platform using a supported telecom network, the telecom operator verifies the request using predefined identifiers.

Only eligible traffic is considered for zero-rated access.

Step 4: Zero-Rated Content Delivery

Once validated:

• Data charges are bypassed automatically
• Users can stream or access content normally
• Video, audio, and other supported content can be consumed without affecting the user’s mobile data balance

• Dedicated CDN setup

2. Traffic Identification

The telecom operator verifies whether the traffic originates from the approved platform using predefined identifiers.

This ensures:

• Only eligible traffic is zero-rated
• Unauthorized traffic is excluded

3. Zero-Rated Content Delivery

Once the request is validated, the telecom operator bypasses data charges for supported traffic.

Users can then access content without consuming mobile data.
