Introduction

Content categories in Muvi help you organize your content library by grouping similar types of content (e.g., Movies, TV Shows, Documentaries, Podcasts, and Live Streams). Categories improve navigation and make it easier for users to discover content on your platform. This guide explains how to add and manage content categories in the Muvi CMS.

Steps to Add a Content Category & Sub-Category

Step 1: Navigate to Category Management

• From the left-hand menu, navigate to “Content Management” --> “Content Settings”.
• Click on the “Categories” tab.

Step 2: Add New Category

• Click on Add New.
• Enter a Category Name (e.g., Movies, TV Shows, Kids Content).
• Click on Save to add the new category.
• The category will now appear in your category list and can be assigned to content while adding or editing it.

Step 3: Adding a Sub-Category

• To add a Sub-Category, click on the “+” icon on the right-hand side of the category.
• Type the sub-category “Name” and click on “Save”.

Edit a Category and Sub-Categories

• Navigate to “Content Management” --> “Content Settings”.
• Click on the “Categories” tab.
• Click the Edit icon next to the category.
• Update the name.
• Click Save.
• To edit a sub-category, click on the Edit icon next to the sub-category.
• Update the name.
• Click Save.

Delete a Category and Sub-Category

• Click the Delete icon next to the category you want to remove.
• Confirm deletion. (Note: Deleting a category will not delete the content assigned to it, but the content will lose that category association.)

Change the Order of Contents in the Content Category

• You can change the order of the contents in a specific content category.
• Click on the “3 Dots” on the right-hand side of a content category and click on “Order Contents”.

Tips

• Use clear and descriptive category names for a better user experience.
• Limit the number of top-level categories to avoid clutter.
• Regularly review categories to ensure they align with your content strategy.
