Generating HLS URL to Share Channels

Introduction

You can generate an HLS URL for your 24x7 Playout channels and use it in any player - be it a Muvi player or any 3rd party player to display your channel and the scheduled content in the channel to the end users.

Generating HLS URL to Share Playout Channels

To generate an HLS URL, navigate to "Content Management"-->"Content Library" in the Dashboard.
In the Content Library, click on "Start" under the channel that you want to share by generating the HLS URL.
The HLS URL generation process will start.
Wait for a couple of minutes. The HLS URL will be generated.
Click on the "Share Icon" under the content. You can see the HLS URL in the pop-up.
Click on "Copy" to copy the HLS URL. You can share it on your website/app.

Note: When you enable HLS for a channel, a dedicated server for managing the schedule of the channel content in HLS is launched. Each second the HLS is active, there is a cost for running the server. This cost will be included as "Streaming Hours" in your monthly invoice.

How to Stop HLS for a Channel

You can stop HLS URLs for channels you are not streaming. This will help you save HLS Streaming Hours costs.

To stop the HLS for any channel, navigate to "Content Management"-->"Content Library" in the Dashboard.
In the Content Library, you can see all the active channels.
Under an active channel, click the "Stop" button.
The HLS URL generation process will be stopped for that channel.
Admin will get a notification every 24 hours (via email) and an always-ON notification in the CMS showing how many HLS are active.
