How to Change Video Resolution in Player
Now a days, videos are available in different resolutions (SD, HD, UHD). Higher internet connection speed is required to watch high resolution videos (HD, UHD). Whereas one can manage to watch low resolution videos (SD) in slower connection speed. You can also select the resolutions from the player while playing any video, however, if you select higher resolution in slower internet connection speed then, the video may not play seamlessly and start buffering.
Below is the list of recommended internet connection speeds to watch video seamlessly in different resolutions on Muvi platform.
Internet Connection Speed |
Video Resolution |
0.5 Mbps (Megabytes/Second) |
Minimum Broadband Connection Speed Required |
1.5 Mbps |
Recommended Broadband Connection Speed |
3 Mbps |
Recommended for SD Quality Videos (480p, 360p, 240p, 144) |
5 Mbps |
Recommended for HD Quality Videos (720p, 1080p, 1440p) |
25 Mbps |
Recommended for UHD (4K) Videos (2160p) |
Note: For DRM enabled content, the resolution of video switches according to the user’s internet connection speed. (For example, your internet connection speed is good, and you are watching an HD quality video seamlessly. If suddenly your internet connection speed is dropped, then the resolution will also be dropped automatically to SD quality).
When you have trouble in watching high resolution videos (Non-DRM) in slow internet connection speed, you can manually select low resolution for the video from the player to watch the video seamlessly without buffering.
