Hosted vs Non-Hosted Payment Gateway

Hosted payment gateways are highly secure, simpler, and customizable whereas non-hosted payment gateways are more versatile and provide better customer experience. Hosted Payment Gateway

In a hosted payment gateway, when a user clicks on content to purchase it, he/she will be redirected to the payment service providers page (PSP). Here the user needs to fill in his/her payment details. Then the user will be redirected back to your website to finish the checkout process, once he/she has made the payment.

There is also another way to integrate a hosted payment gateway. In this case, iFrame (inline frame) is used to collect payment information. Payment service provider (PSP) hosts the form. Hence, PSP receives the data when users fill up the form. In this process, no credit card information is captured or stored while accepting the card by the merchant.

A different profile is created for each user for recurring payment. Gateway deducts the amount from the profile based on their plan and sends a notification to your website. Cancellation and refund are handled at the gateway’s site.

Non-Hosted Payment Gateways

In a non-hosted payment gateway, when a user purchases content, it allows the user to enter their debit card or credit card information directly on the checkout page of the store owner. Then it processes the payment by using some HTTPS queries or by using the APIs. Mostly, this type of gateway supports, fixed as well as recurring payments.

A non-hosted payment gateway allows you to have full control of your Payment Page UI. You can customize it as per your wish. Completing a purchase gives more confidence to the users. As they don’t have to leave your website during the payment process. Also, you can integrate your online payment solution by using an API with any device (tablet, smartphone) connected to the internet.

Semi-Hosted Payment Gateway
