How End Users View Recommended Content

Managing Reccomendation Settings in Alie

Introduction

By enabling Muvi’s Recommendation Engine (Alie) you can show recommended video content to your end-users in your Muvi One Classic store. Your end-users will be automatically suggested content that they prefer to watch based on their viewing preference. For example, if a user only prefers to watch action movies, then he/she will be recommended to all the action movies in your store. Once you enable this feature in the CMS your users will view the recommended content in the featured section of the homepage of your store when they log in. You can also configure Alie with different Algorithms to suggest content to your end-users.

Note: Alie is a paid feature. You will be charged additionally for using this feature.

How to Activate Alie

To activate Alie, navigate to “Marketplace” -->” Manage Apps” in the CMS.
Click on “Activate” under Alie.
You will be shown the price to activate Alie. Click on “Yes” to proceed.
Complete the checkout process by selecting the credit card. You will get the confirmation that Alie is now activated.

Enabling Alie in the Featured Section

You need to enable the Alie Powered Recommendation engine in the Auto-Generated Featured section in the CMS, to show recommended content to your end-users on the featured section of your homepage.

Navigate to “Website” -->” Templates” -->” Homepage” in the CMS.
Scroll down to the "Featured Sections".
Click on “Add Featured Section”.
In the “Section Type”, select “Recommendation by Alie”.
Type the "Section Name" (e.g., Recommended Content for You).
In the "Select Algorithm" field, select the Algorithm, based on which Alie will provide recommendations to your end-users.
Select "Other Users Choice" if you want Alie to provide recommendations based on the other end-users choice.
Select "Most Viewed" if you want Alie to provide recommendations based on the content most viewed by the end users.
Select "End-user Interaction" if you want Alie to provide recommendations based on the end-users interaction with the content (e.g., the content they viewed, purchased, etc.).
Select "Recently Added" if you want Alie to provide recommendations based on the contents recently added to the CMS by the Admin.
Select "Most Purchased" if you want Alie to provide recommendations based on the contents purchased by the end-users.
Type the "Content Limit" (i.e., how many content(s) you want to display in the Featured Section. You can type a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 400).
Click on “Save”

Enabling Alie for Related Content

Alie can be enabled for the "Related Content" feature in the Muvi One "Content Library". Once the Alie Recommendation engine is selected for the "Manage Related Content" feature, all the related content will be automatically mapped to a specific content based on the Algorithm of Alie. For example, if the Algorithm is set as "Similar Items", and the related content option is selected for the "Spiderman" movie, then all other Spiderman movies will be mapped with "Spiderman" (i.e., Spiderman 2, Spiderman 3, etc.) automatically.

To select Alie Recommendation engine for the related content, navigate to "Manage Content" -->" Content Library" in the CMS.
On the right-hand side of specific content, click on "Manage Related Content".
From the "Type", select "Auto Generated Powered by Alie".
Type the "Content Limit" (minimum of 1 and maximum of 400).
Click on "Save".
When the end-users will visit the "Content Details" page of a specific content for which the auto-generated related option is selected, then they can view all the related contents mapped to that content.

Managing Recommendation Settings in Alie

You can log in to Alie using your Muvi One CMS credentials and manage the recommendation settings. You can view and change the Algorithms for "Featured Section" and "Manage Related Content". Also, you can view the recommendation "Analytics".

Visit the Alie page and click on "Login".
On the log-in page type your Muvi One CMS user ID and password to log in.
Click on "Projects" and select "Muvi5".
You can view all your data configurations in Alie. All the data configurations of Muvi One automatically sync with Alie.
Click on "Hooks" to view the Algorithms selected for the "Featured Section" and "Manage Related Content".
You can even change the Algorithms for the "Featured Section" and/or "Manage Related Content".
View the recommendation analytics by clicking on "Analytics". You can select the "Day", "Week", and "Month" filters.
