Adding Policy Rules for Subscription
Introduction
Add and manage different Policy Rules which you can use for different monetization methods. Select a specific rule while adding a monetization method (i.e. PPV, PPV Bundle, Voucher, Subscription, etc.) You can add rules for content access duration, video resolution (i.e. HD, SD), number of views, device restriction, and watch duration. You can apply the rules to a specific monetization plan where you can allow your users to watch HD/SD video, limit their content access period, number of views, access number of devices per subscription, and/or watch period. You can add as many rules as you want for different monetization plans.
How to Enable Policy
First, you need to enable policy in settings.
- Go to “Monetization” --> “Settings” in the CMS
- Select the check box “Enable Policy” under “Policy”

Adding Policy Rules for Subscription
You can add Policy Rules for Subscription. Create rules to restrict the user to simultaneously stream content on a restricted number of devices, enable/disable advertisement, and/or restrict watch duration. After creating the rule, you can add it while adding the subscription plan(s).
- To add new rules, navigate to “Policy Rules” -->” Add Rule” in the CMS
- In the “Rule Name” field, type a name for the rule.
- Type a short description of the rule in the “Short Description” field. (e.g. Buy this subscription plan for 4 devices or buy an ad-free subscription, etc.)
- In the "Monetization Type" field, select "Subscription" from the drop-down.
- Type the number of devices in the "Restrict No. Of Devices" field. (This is specific to mobile devices, i.e. Mobile Phones, Tablets, iPad, etc. You can restrict the number of devices (i.e. Mobile Phones, Tablets, Android TVs) on which your subscribers can register/login to view the content(This is only for Apps).
- In the "Restrict No. Of Simultaneous Streaming Devices" field, type the number of devices the end-user can stream the content simultaneously (i.e. Laptop, Desktop, Tab, etc. You can restrict users to watch content on multiple devices and/or browsers using the same login credential at the same time. )
- In the *"Watch Duration" field, type watch duration time (in hours/days). Once the user starts watching the content, he/she needs to finish watching the content before the watch duration is over. For example, if you have added watch duration for 12 hours and an end-user has started watching content at 9 A.M. then he/she needs to finish watching the content before 9 P.M. if the end-user fails to watch the content within the watch duration then it will expire.
- In the "Advertisement" field select "Yes/No". If you select 'Yes', the end-user who will purchase the subscription plan will view the advertisement you have integrated into the video content. However, if you select 'No' then the end-user will not view the advertisement or he/she can enjoy ad-free content.
- Click on "Save".
